Hello! I’m Sangeeta.
I’ll help you pass that exam with confidence and create English habits for life.
Exams can be tough… and boring. But they’re also an opportunity to make progress in your English and give you a qualification that will open doors in your career. So often though, we study intensively just before the exam… and then forget everything we’ve learnt afterwards.
Instead, I’ll show you how you can make time and space for English so you can remember and use what we learn in real life, not just in the exam. How you learn is as important as what you learn, so I’ll share everything I’ve discovered over the years on the most effective ways to study and practise so you can maximise your time and not spend your entire weekend doing homework.
I’m also not a fan of learning complex grammar rules that you’ll never remember. I’ll get you practising new language in relevant ways so you can use it in your exam and in real life!
I’m here to support and motivate you so you can do your best on the big day… and every day after that.
Here’s what I believe
It’s all about you
What you need from this exam is different from someone else. Finding out what makes you tick is one of the best parts of my job. And it means I can help you to make the most of our time together.
I won’t make promises I can’t keep
Improving your language takes time: there are no magic tricks and secret hacks (sorry). However, there are more effective ways than others. I’ll share my experience as a teacher and learner so you can find the most productive ways for you to practise and improve.
Let’s keep it real
You’re probably not doing this exam because you want to but because you need to. We’ll connect the content to how you use English at work so it’s relevant to your life.
“Sangeeta is a wonderful teacher, clear, and she makes the syllabus enjoyable and fun as well as useful. She is excellent.”
— Carmen, B2 First student
How did I get here?
After teaching for over 10 years in language schools and universities, I wanted more flexibility and to be able to focus on the areas I really love.
Many schools focus on WHAT to study but I think even more important is HOW you learn a language – and what works best for each individual student. Now, I can focus on this and each student’s personal goals and how YOU use English in real life.
As well as helping students directly, I also work for Cambridge writing materials and giving training. This helps other teachers prepare their students, so you can be confident I know these exams backwards!
I know how challenging it is to sit a language exam (I’ve done it in Spanish – it was hard!) so I want to make this experience as enjoyable, useful and effective as possible. Doing endless practice exams won't make a big difference to your progress. I’ll show you the key language and strategies which will ensure that when you open that exam paper, you feel ready for whatever's inside.
And it doesn’t stop after class! I’ll show you what and how to practise and review so you keep improving without me!
As well as trying to work on my Spanish, I’m constantly learning in my teaching career – training and professional development is very important to me. I make sure I keep my skills up to date so I can give my students the best learning experience possible. My qualifications include the Cambridge CELTA and the Cambridge DELTA.
Things I love that aren’t teaching…
Sewing: I’ve been making my own clothes since I was little and my sewing class is the highlight of my week!
Dancing: in my kitchen, at parties, in classes, at festivals… it doesn’t matter where, but I love to let my hair down.
Food: making it, eating it and talking about it.
Art: I went to art school and worked in galleries for a decade before become a teacher – it’s still one of my passions.
Anything second hand: I love charity shops, markets, junks shops – I haven’t bought new clothes for five years and I’m trying to only use second hand fabric in my sewing too.
